The Allegri Quartet- Schubert Quartettsatz in C Minor Haydn Quartet in C Op 33 No 3 Ravel String Quartet in F

Over more than 40 years of music making, the Allegri Quartet has built up an international following and an enviable reputation in the chamber music field.

They have performed and broadcast world wide, giving concerts in major cities and at leading festivals from London to Los Angeles, whilst its repertoire now spans the full range of string quartets, from the 18th century to the present day.

This collection contains the relatively modern Ravel Quartet in F along with the more traditional Haydn Quartet in C Op 33 No 3.

In addition, a very special performing version of Schubert’s Quarttetsatz is included, with the second movement completed by Professor Brian Newbould from the University of Hull.

The Jacqueline du Pre Music Building at St Hilda’s College, Oxford was chosen as the venue for the recording because of it’s size and acoustic, which particularly suits Naim’s desire to preserve spontaneity and maintain a “live” feel to the music.

“Dear Julian I have just listened to the CD and am happy to report that I’m delighted! The sound is very true, almost more beautiful than when it leaves the instruments! Congratulations!” Peter Carter, Allegri Quartet

“Attempting to complete vintage Schubert is all the more rewarding when one’s advocates have the Schubertian insight of the Allegris. A fine performance” Professor Brian Newbould
