Antonio Pedrotti: Canti Popolari

Antonio Pedrotti has been known in Italy as well as in Europe as conductor. Born in August 1901 in Trento, he enjoyed a privileged education: private tutors at secondary school taught him foreign languages, then he devoted himself to the classical studies at the prestigious college "La Quercia" in Florence. During the last month of World War I, her had to join the army. In 1921 he submitted his admission to the Literature Department of Rome University and, at the same time, to one of the most important italian musical Academies, the "Conservatorio di S. Cecilia" in Rome. There he attended the composition course lead by Ottorino Respighi until 1924, the year of his graduation. During his carreer he conducted many orchestra and recorded for labels such as the famous Czech Label "Supraphon".

An other side of his musical enfoldment is shown in this CD: his great love for choir music and arrangements of italian folk songs.
