Concerts Under The Dome- The Vermeer Quartet

Naim are pleased to present the second collection of recordings in the Concerts Under The Dome series.

The music featured in the first selection is one of Dvorak’s most beautiful works, the Quartet No 9 in D Minor, Op 34 (b.75) recorded live in October 1993 by Ken Christianson.

The second work, recorded by Ken in April 1994, is the Messiaen Quatuor pour le Fin de Temps.

A devout Catholic, Messiaen often drew his inspiration from the Bible and this particular work, his only chamber music piece, was inspired by the book of Revelations, Chapter 10.

The Vermeer Quartet

This quartet, having performed in almost every major city in North America, Europe and Australia, has achieved an international reputation as one of the world’s finest chamber music ensembles.

The Chicago Tribune – “Here was music-making of the most passionate kind, in which eloquent playing was brightened by brilliant technique and tempered by a heightened sense of taste”

The Arizona Republic – “….in a class by itself”

Poland - Ruch Muzyczny – “The Vermeer Quartet’s interpretations seems so nearly perfect that one can more easily appreciate music as universal harmony.
