Sarabando - Inspired by works of Bach, Vivaldi, Merula and Piazzolla

TangoBaroque:

- Per Arne Glorvigen (bandoneon)
- Tormod Dalen (baroque cello)

Who doesn't love the music of J.S. Bach? You would have to be made of stone if you don't like at least one of his creations, or be an inhabitant of another planet if you have never managed to ever hear his music. The reason is pretty simple: not only is his music an example of unequalled extraordinary genius; his music affected every composer worth his salt who came after him. Mozart reworked some of his compositions for string quartet, Brahms studied all of Bach's oeuvre he could find, even the inventor of 12 tone music Arnold Schönberg was familiar with Bach's work, which he studied and analyzed almost daily. The list of jazz and pop musicians who have reworked or used melodies and harmonies taken from Bach's oeuvre would read like a who's who of modern music culture and fill pages.

And here we have another disc, this time in a unique combination of bandoneon and baroque cello, inspired by his works and those of other composers from the era of the baroque. Composers from the past, joining forces with two present day creators/composers/performers to create something truly contemporary... but in no way lacking in the depth of expression, emotions, even the tongue in cheek humor of the originals.....
